A sunscreen blind is a roller blind made from an open-weave mesh fabric instead of
solid material. The weave — usually somewhere around 5-10% open — lets light and
a filtered view through while blocking most of the sun's UV and glare. That's the
whole difference between a sunscreen blind and a blackout blind: one filters; the other
seals the window off completely
Doha's real problem isn't brightness. It's heat radiating straight through glass, all afternoon, most of the year. We supply and install sunscreen blinds across Qatar – Doha, Al Wakra, Al Rayyan,
West Bay, The Pearl, and surrounding areas. Villas, apartments, and offices with
heavy glass exposure are where we install these most, since that's where the heat and
glare problem is worst. Stock is kept locally, so lead times run shorter than ordering
fabric in from abroad.
Sunscreen blinds use an open-weave mesh fabric that filters light and blocks UV while letting you see out. Blackout blinds use a fully opaque fabric that blocks light completely. Choose sunscreen for living rooms and offices where you still want daylight and blackout for bedrooms or media rooms.
Our fabric carries a Class 5 colour-fastness rating — the top of the scale for resistance to fading under direct sun. Relevant here, since Doha windows see far more UV exposure than most fabrics are rated for elsewhere.
Partially. The weave is translucent rather than see-through, so with the lights on indoors after dark, outlines are visible from outside. For full night privacy, pair sunscreen blinds with a sheer curtain, or choose blackouts for that room instead.
It's the percentage of the fabric that's open weave rather than solid thread. At 8%, ours leans toward blocking glare and heat while keeping a usable view — lower percentages block more light but cut visibility outward.
